The passage below was shared with me many years ago. It has resonated with me from the very moment I read it. Given to me on my birthday. I cannot recall which one exactly, but I can remember from whom. Her name is Karen. She is a beautiful and bright free-spirited soul. A lovely, kind and compassionate person. Someone I consider a dear friend. She's also my sister-in-law. I still have the original handwritten letter hanging on the wall in my home office. The words have inspired me through the years to remain present, to live fully and embrace each moment. It is what I endeavor to do. With each new day is an opportunity to be the best and most genuine version of ourselves we can be. Be kind to yourself and to others. Practice patience and be present in all that you do. Every day is a gift. Use it carefully.
“Look well to this one day, for it and it alone is life. In the brief course of this day lie all the verities and realities of your existence; the pride of growth, the glory of action, the splendor of beauty. Yesterday is only a dream, and tomorrow is but a vision. Yet each day, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and each tomorrow, a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this one day, for it and it alone is life.”
